Why is the Corona so hot?

Why is the corona so hot? The rarefied corona, invisible from the Earth surface, stretches over the photosphere, i.e., over the visible surface of the sun. It is known that the corona is several times hotter, than the photosphere. For a long time astronomers assumed that the cause of such high temperature of the corona lies in the magnetic field, which keeps gigantic plasma loops high over the sun surface. Close supervision of coronal loops from TRACE satellite are to indicate the source of the corona energy more exactly. Devices at TRACE satellite obtain pictures of the sun in ultraviolet rays of very high energy. Based on these pictures a conclusion was made that considerable heating of the corona occurs in its lower layers, at the foundation of the loops, where plasma begins rising and goes back to the sun surface. The current striking picture from the TRACE demonstrates condensations of majestic hot coronal loops, which stretch upwards at 30 and more Earth diameters! Authors: M. Man sees 'Jesus' in his shower

A man is suffering from a case of 'Jesus damp' - after the son of God's name appeared on his shower wall.

Nick Polgardi was washing in his shower when he spotted the word 'Jesus' in the swirling stone patterned tiles.

He couldn't believe his eyes but after studying it shouted to wife Amanda: 'I'm showering with Jesus. Get in here.'

Amanda was bemused but after having a look for herself couldn't stop laughing.

Nick said: 'I thought it was interesting and decided to let people know what was happening, but I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea'.
Builder Nick was raised a Presbyterian and is familiar with other 'sightings' but didn't really give them much thought until now.

He said: 'I always respected what other people believed, but didn't think about it happening to me until this came along.'

After the sighting, Nick called Matt Livingstone, a contractor who built his house in Newnam, Georgia in America.

Matt said: 'When I heard what was happening I came and took a look. I'd never seen anything like it before.'

Couple Sees Virgin Mary, Jesus In Gold Nugget

Burton Klatt, of Sun City, has been digging for the yellow stuff for years and has cases showcasing the nuggets he's found.
However, getting more attention than the rest is one nugget that he said is shaped like the Virgin Mary holding the baby Jesus.
At first, he thought it looked like a horse. His wife was the one who spotted the holy shape.
The family magnified the image on paper and saw the Madonna and child more clearly. "You can see the nose and eyes," Burton Klatt said.
The nugget weighs less than an ounce and is smaller than a BB. The Klatts said it has been popular among famly and close friends. But after keeping it to themselves for a year, the couple decided to share it with others.
"I don't see how anyone could think we're nuts, because they could look at it and they could see it," Carole Klatt said.
Neither of the Klatts claim to be very religious, but they said the piece has bolstered their spirituality.
"We weren't religious before," Burton Klatt said. "I'm a believer, but this helps out."

Stare at the red dot at the centre of the image to the left for at least 30 seconds, then take a look at the right square . You will see the right square getting faded out and also flickering. You should also try moving your head closer and further away from the monitor while keeping your eyes on the centre and you will see some additional effects.

3D Fork Illusion

This optical illusion works because we try to assign a three dimensional aspect to a two dimensional picture. The technique of perspective angles has been used.

The two ends taken by themselves look correct. If you cover either end, the picture looks right. The perspective angles used on the left side to make the “U” confuse us when we incorporate them into what is on the right side of the picture. Then, since the right side has three parts which have curved lines, we group those three parts together and see them as round.

Chromatic Afterimage Illusion

Stare at the plus sign on the left for about 30 seconds. As you do this you probably will see some colors around the blue and green circles. After about 30 seconds, shift your gaze to the plus sign on the right. What did you see?

You probably saw a yellow and desaturated reddish circle. Did you notice that they were not there before you tried this experiment? Furthermore, unlike the colored circles on the left, the ones you saw on the right moved around as your eyes moved, which proves that these perceptions are the result of afterimages in your visual system and not some trick of the stimulus presentation on the right.
It is observations such as this that led Ewald Hering to propose the opponent processes theory.
